Job Summary:
Rise Performing Arts is seeking an exceptional Battery Caption Head to lead the battery sections of our new Marching Open percussion group: The Forge Percussion Ensemble (PIO). The Battery Caption Head will be responsible for providing artistic direction and guidance to the battery sections, ensuring a high level of musical and visual performance. They will work closely with the ensemble directors, staff, and members to uphold our commitment to excellence and achievement.
Responsibilities:
- Musical and Visual Direction: Offer comprehensive musical and visual direction to the battery sections of The Forge Percussion Ensemble (PIO) as assigned. Develop and refine performance techniques, dynamics, timing, and musicality specific to each ensemble.
- Rehearsal Planning and Execution: Strategize and conduct engaging and productive rehearsals for the battery sections, prioritizing individual and ensemble growth, musicality, and technical proficiency.
- Technique Instruction: Provide comprehensive instruction in proper technique and playing fundamentals to battery members, emphasizing the development of precision, control, and musical expression.
- Performance Preparation: Prepare the battery sections for competitions, showcases, and other performances by organizing drill and movement rehearsals, coordinating with the visual staff, and facilitating seamless integration of music and visuals.
- Evaluation and Feedback: Deliver constructive feedback and evaluation to individual battery members, identifying areas for improvement and offering guidance for technical and musical development.
- Sectional Staff Management: Supervise and mentor the instructional staff dedicated to the battery sections, ensuring their guidance, support, and professional development.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with other caption heads, ensemble directors, and staff to foster a cohesive and unified artistic vision across Rise Performing Arts. Maintain open and effective communication with members, staff, and administration.

Requirements
Extensive experience in indoor percussion, particularly in the battery section, with a proven track record of excellence.
In-depth knowledge of battery percussion techniques, musicality, and performance nuances relevant to The Forge Percussion Ensemble (PIO).
Strong leadership skills, inspiring and motivating members to reach their full potential.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with staff, members, and administration.
Experience in teaching and instructing individuals or ensembles, providing clear and constructive feedback.
Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic rehearsal and performance environment.
Availability to travel to competitions and events with Rise Performing Arts ensembles.
